The Newcastle local elections are being held on 22nd May this year and it’s your chance to have your say in what happens in your local community

If you don’t register, you can’t vote

If you don’t register, you can’t vote! – It’s as simple as that. To vote in any UK elections, you have to be on the electoral register. It’s easy to register – you can fill in your details on this website. Then you just need to print the form, sign it, and send it to your local electoral registration office.

If you’re a student living away from home, you can register twice

If you’re a student living away from home, you may register twice – Many students don’t know that they might be eligible to register to vote at both their home and university addresses, so they’d be able to vote wherever they are at the time of the election.

I live in halls of residence

You’re already registered! This is the last year that students in halls will be block registered so make sure that you register to vote for future years!

Why vote?

At the moment students are the least registered group in society while elderly are the most – this is a key reason why politicians often promise much more to this group than they do to students.
